Thinking Back
At first, there was only blackness, the earth’s crust was still forming….oh wait, that is probably too far back! I began playing guitar when I was around 5 years old, slightly after the earth formed. My family was very musical and I grew up listening to records of Chet Atkins, The Ventures, DooWop, big band swing, jazz, and just about anything in between. I joined my first group, The Three Hats, when I was in the 5th grade. Over the next 3 decades, I played lead guitar and sang harmony in various local groups in southern Indiana with many talented musicians.
The Impractical Becomes Reality
I had always wanted to record a collection of instrumental songs but the amount of studio time needed and the expense always made it impractical. That has all changed now due to the new technology of using a PC and digital recording software. It is now possible for me to record and produce professional quality CD’s in my home studio. I was able to take my time and get each song to sound the way I wanted it to. I even tuned my guitar ! Twice !
What Makes the Cut?
As the recordings progressed, I realized that the songs must meet certain criteria in order to be recorded. They must be recognizable without words, they need to have some variety, and I need to be somewhat passionate about them in order to be creative. So here is the result of all that effort…. I hope you enjoy your CD as much as I enjoyed creating it.

“Forgotten Words" was recorded using a 1968 Gibson ES335TD. Nice clean sound, very good string action, and great American quality
Future recordings will feature my new Gretsch 6122 II. I love this guitar ! It has super- clean recording pickups, great string balance and intonation, not to mention the wonderful Bigsby tremolo!
